Environmental studies and Forestry (Essay Sample) Content: Environmental studies and ForestryNameInstitutionInstructorID January 22, 2015Air Quality and Greenhouse GasesAir quality is a fundamental element to the basic life. Human beings and all living things (plants and animals) require quality air for survival. In order to survive, every living organism requires very clean air thus, it is important to keep the air clean through preventing/reducing air pollution. While dealing with air quality it is also important to discuss green house gases. The greenhouse gases refer to the heat trapping gases in the surface/atmosphere as stated by (Williams and David, pg 4). The quality of air is polluted mostly by man activities. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide is believed to exist naturally in the surface while, others are produced through man activity and natural process. However, there are many institutions over the world who have devoted to cut down air pollution as stated by (Williams and David, pg 12). They have designed several efforts to ensure health and quality air. University of Utah Land- Atmosphere interactions (LAIR) GROUP, Meteorology, is one of the institutions that are fighting for quality air. University of Utah Land- Atmosphere interactions (LAIR) GROUP, Meteorology, has the following strategic goals to ensure quality air and reduction of greenhouse gases: they have a strategy to protect environment and human health, reduce the global activities which facilitate to climatic change and ensuring quality air visual. Their efforts are to reduce emission of the following toxic pollutants: methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), fluorinated gases, and nitrous oxide (N20) according to (Browning, pg 53). These pollutants have led to global warming by raising temperature as a result of troposphere ozone layer formation. Utah University and meteorology group have been spending lot of resources to ...
